So today I decided to make Japanese rice balls for my lunch (And today, is no cooking day because im lazy). This recipe is very easy and quick so this is very ideal for on the go people. Here in Japan, Rice balls or Onigiri are very popular. You can buy it almost everywhere, one popular store here is Chikara but you can also buy it in convenient stores and supermarkets.

So lets start with rice. The normal rice ball are usually made with white japanese rice but since I don't have white rice here at home, I will just use brown rice instead.
Just put 1 tsp Mirin. This is also used in making sushi. You can easily buy this in supermarkets here, but if you dont have this at home, you can use a mixture of white vinegar and a little sugar.
I added Furikake in my rice ball but this is optional. Furikake is a Japanese powder seasoning that are usually consists of a mixture of dried fish, seaweed, and vegetables. It is normally sprinkled on top of rice, fish or vegetable dishes.
I thought my husband bought the plain tuna can last week but as you can see he bought the flavored tuna and thai curry. So I encourage you guys to use the plain tuna can, in oil ,in brine or in water.
Just drain the tuna and place it on top of the rice. Mine has sauce in it because I used the tuna curry.
Just roll the rice into a ball. Then that's it. You have your Onigiri.
You can eat it right away or you can chill it and eat it later.
